A month of Firsts

Leaving home, staying in a hostel for the first time, introducing myself to 120 new faces in two days, eating the mess food every day, attending committee presentations after the clock had moved past 12 AM, sleeping at 4 AM only to wake up at 8 again to take a quiz!! So many firsts in such a short span of time! On a serious note, coming to XIMB has meant learning so many new things that it amazes me on daily basis till today.

"Ohh!! It’s already 10:55, 5 minutes more for the presentation to start!!", exclaimed a fellow juni, rushing for the 'night-classes'. Yes, the 'inter-actions' were finished and the committee presentations had started.

Dr. Prabhakar's (Batch of 93) visit to campus

Dr. K Prabhakar of the Batch of 1993 was on a 2 day visit to our campus. He is currently based out of Bangalore and is associated with Harvard Business School – India Research Centre as a Senior Researcher. He held a serious of one to one meeting with Director and Faculty members. He also spent a lot of time with students and various Committees and Student Interest groups. He came with an open mind here and more on a fact finding mission to find out what are the expectations of Institute, Faculty members and students from the Alumni.

Mr. Vinaya Chandran, from batch of 1993, Vice President - First Indian Corporation, Bangalore was on a 2 day trip to BBSR to attend Orissa.IT08@20 - IT summit held in BBSR on 2nd & 3rd Jul. He visited the campus and stayed for a day. During his stay at the campus he met Fr. P T Joseph, Prof. Latha Ravindran and Prof. Sridhar Das. He was quite impressed with the development taking place in and around the campus.

In the current academic year, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar is trying out an innovative and novel pedagogy as far as Rural Management studies are concerned. As part of the 'Community Mobilisation and Institution Building' course offered by XIMB in its Second Year Rural Management programme, a case study in the form of mainstream Bollywood films like Swades, ChakDe India and Manthan has been included.
